I’m really pleased with these images! I did this make-up in about 10 minutes in a dark studio with only the studio lights on in the background (another shoot was happening so the main lights couldn’t be turn on). I was unsure as to how the images would look as it was another very quick hair and make-up change and I didn’t have suitable lighting. I think they came out really well considering the circumstances!

Heres the second set of images from my shoot with HJK Imagery and model Naddy. I love these so much! Considering both shoots (flower mask) were done on the same day and the hair and make-up change took around 15 - 20 mins, I think they came out really well!

Glam Up Your False Nails!
Ever looked at your lovely French manicured nails and wished you could add a little nail art to it but just don’t have the skills or tools required? Why not try nail decals?!
Simply cut the nail decal to your required shape and size, hold in cold water for 20-30 seconds.
Slowly slide the nail decal off its backing paper and onto your nail.
Use a damp cotton bud or finger to press the nail decal onto the nail, removing any wrinkles or air bubbles.
Leave it to dry on the nail before securing with a top coat of clear nail varnish.
Nail decals like the ones used here can be found on Ebay relatively cheaply, and there are hundreds of different styles.

Here’s the first set of images from my photo shoot on Wednesday! I’m really pleased with how they came out. As you can see the inspiration for this look was taken from a photo I posted earlier. I’m still waiting on the second set from the photographer and can’t wait to see them!

Christina Aguilera as Ali in Burlesque
Make-up by Kristofer Buckle
For Christina Aguilera’s sexy, over-the-top looks in the movie Burlesque, make-up artist Kristofer Buckle wanted everything to feel theatrical and extravagant. “I think there is something beautiful about seeing the truth behind the magic of theatre,” he said.
When it came to Aguilera’s “Guy What Takes His Time” number for the film, Buckle envisioned his client in large, pearl-like lashes that would create continuity between her make-up and wardrobe. His challenge was to create lashes that were ultra-light so that they wouldn’t bounce and sag with every blink. Buckle recalls the moment when it all came together. “Stopped at a light in the back of a taxi, I watched as a crew was unloading a truck of packages,” he said. “There was a large chunk of broken Styrofoam and little tiny Styrofoam balls had broken off and were blowing down the street. A light bulb went off. I told the taxi driver to wait and I jumped right out and grabbed that chunk of Styrofoam. And then I got to work.”
When Buckle showed director Steven Antin the sketches of his concept, Antin thought the lashes might be too distracting. “After standing in my kitchen with tweezers and lashes and glue, and jumping out of taxicabs, those damn lashes were going on her face,” Buckle said. “So I put the lashes on Christina and we had Steven come to the trailer. We blasted the song and Christina performed to the song and got those lashes into the movie.”
Buckle also has a bit of hard-won wisdom regarding the importance of using durable products: “When you read about all of the waterproof make-up I used, it may seem excessive or unnecessary, but you never know what’s going to happen during 18 hours of shooting.”
For example, there is a moment in the scene where Aguilera takes a quick swig from a glass of water. A prop glass that had been empty for every rehearsal was unexpectedly filled with water on the first day of shooting. “Christina threw the entire glass of water directly onto her face,” Buckle said. “This could have been a disaster which would have cost production a lot of money to redo that make-up, but it remained unharmed.”
Skin Care

Kryolan Dermacolour Fixing Powder set the make-up and made it waterproof for all of the extreme heat, perspiration and long shooting days on set.
Bronzer
Sally Hansen Salon Airbrush Legs in Light Glow was used over the entire body.
Blush

M.A.C. Fluidline in Blacktrack applied in a thin, liquid line on the upper lash line
Brows
Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil in Medium Ash/Medium Brown to arch the brows and create a retro feel to the eyes

False Lashes
Custom-made false lashes on the top lashes. (See “Additional Information” for details.)
Lips
M.A.C. Lipstick in Neon Orange and a Prestige Cosmetics Classic Lip Liner in a matching tone to give an intense pop of colour
Highlights / Contour
Paris Berlin Poudre Lumière (a pearlized loose powder) in LU 2, to mimic the texture and sheen of the pearls on Aguilera’s costume. The powder was applied under brows, across the lids, and on the high points of the cheekbones.
Additional Information
To create the lashes, Buckle took a pair of spiky lashes (NYC New York Colour Eyelashes, #314 ) and cut every other spike off to create room for each ball. He coated the lashes in Elmer’s glue to stiffen them. Then, holding each ball carefully with tweezers, he cut a slit in each one. With a dot of glue, he slid a ball onto each spike. Once they dried, he painted the lashes black with acrylic paint and dusted them lightly with a pearlized white eye shadow to augment their spherical shape.

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the Fairytales and Fables photoshoot. This shoot was done with photographer Helen Norman aka HJK Imagery and model Emma Stacey Peers. I really enjoyed this shoot which then lead me to start working on my own fairytale inspired project that I’ve been thinking of doing for a while. Once all the shoots are completed I will start bloging about the project and the development process but for now I’m keeping it under wraps!

Dolly Rockit Rollers Calendar Shoots
Some close-up shots of the make-up I provided for the first calendar shoot. The first look is quite a natural, slightly 50’s inspired make-up. The second look was based on slight sunburnt Barbie make-up. A sunburnt effect was used over the forehead, nose and cheeks.

Dolly Rockit Rollers Calendar Shoots
Here are some behind the scene photos of the calendar shoots I did for Leicester’s Dolly Rockit Rollers. These shoots were so much fun to do, especially since I got to do them with the very talented photographer Monkia Malkowska. All the girls were fantastic but it’s so true what they say, never work with children or animal. The photo shoot with the dogs was hectic but hilarious!
